On Operation Starlite, in Binh Son District, Quang Ngai Province while engaged in action with enemy forces. LCpl Barton was critically wounded by an errant U.S. Naval gunfire round. Evacuated to the LPH-2 Iwo Jima he died from multiple fragmentation wounds.

On Operation Black Ferret in the vicinity of Phu Le (3) Hamlet, in Binh Son District, Quang Ngai Province Delta Co received some incoming hostile enemy sniper fire. Cpl Solorzano from H&S Co. S-2 Section, attached to Delta Co. was struck in the throat and killed in action by the enemy small arms sniper fire.

While on a combat patrol in Binh Son District, Quang Ngai Province a booby trap was tripped which caused an explosion resulting in the death of 2dLT Pannell of multiple fragmentation wounds.

On a reaction force to provide security for a downed helicopter on Operation Harvest Moon, in the vicinity of Thang Tay (1) Hamlet, Que Son District, Quang Nam Province on 10 December, the Delta Company platoon received a large volume of automatic weapons and small arms fire wounding several Marines. Seriously wounded, Cpl Jennings was evacuated to B-Med Facility in Chu Lai and subsequently to an Army Hospital in Nha Trang were he died of his wounds.

While on patrol in the vicinity of Chau Tu (5) Hamlet, Ly Tin District, Quang Tim Province a Marine tripped a booby trap which consisted of a grenade attached to a 81MM mortar round. The resulting explosion wounded four Marines and killed LCpl Worman from multiple fragmentation wounds.

At the Company Command post in Binh Son District, Quang Ngai Province, Pfc Gilliam died as a result of a fragmentation wound to the upper chest sustained from a bangalore torpedo he was using to clear a hedgerow for a field of fire.

At the Company Command post in Binh Son District, Quang Ngai Province, LCpl Conn of Btry G, 3d Battalion, 11th Marines who was in a defensive position was mistaken for the enemy and was killed by friendly small arms fire.

Marines in a Mighty Mite on the way to the Ferry crossing in Hai Ninh (1) hamlet, Binh Son District, Quang Ngai Province received one incoming grenade and several rounds small arms fire. Cpl Temples, the driver was killed by the hostile small arms fire.
