The Delta 1/7 Challenge Coin was created through the foresight and direction of Tim and Betty O’Brien, “Doc” Chet Koehler and Bill Westfall in conjunction with the Delta 1/7 association leadership and the Silvertowne Mint. The Challenge Coin was then minted, antiqued, hand painted and clear coated at the Silvertowne Mint.
The initial run of the Delta 1/7 Challenge Coin could only have been created through the donation of an anonymous Vietnam Veteran and the Silvertowne Mint who drastically reduced their normal design and production fees out of their respect for the history and sacrifice of the Delta 1/7 Marines and Corpsman.

Enough coins were created in the initial run for each Delta 1/7 Marine and Corpsman to be presented with a coin at no cost. Additional coins are available from the initial run for one additional family member of each Delta 1/7 Marine or Corpsman.
